TWO academics at the University of Bristol have been recognised for their significant achievements in this year’s King’s New Year Honours list.

They are John Iredale, professor of medical sciences, who has been awarded a knighthood for services to medical research, and Ronald Hutton, from the Department of History, who has been awarded a CBE.

Phil Haughton, founder of the Better Food Company, was appointed an MBE while Pamela Wingfield Scull, founder of Westbury Park Dance Centre, receives the British Empire Medal.

Other Bristol-born people honoured were former Chancellor Sajid Javid, who is knighted, and cricketer Marcus Trescothick, who gets an OBE.
