Fairfield families celebrate

Students at Fairfield High School (FHS) are celebrating a strong set of GCSE results.

Fairfield’s focus on academic excellence for all has been evidently successful, with the school seeing its highest collective number of grades 8 and 9, with one student achieving a magnificent nine grade 9s!

The school would also like to recognise the achievements of students facing significant medical, social, or emotional challenges who, with the support of many internal teams, are celebrating strong results.

Cashan Campbell, vice principal, said: “Through the nurturing, care and guidance of our pastoral, first aid, teaching and exams teams, students who had been struggling have seen some fantastic achievements.”

Edel Cronin, principal added: “We are extremely proud of our Year 11s, who leave us with a deep sense of personal achievement and a solid foundation on which to build their future.

“Days like today highlight the togetherness of our school community, as well as our continuous commitment to fostering and maintaining close relationships with every individual.

“The work we’ve put into building relationships and communicating with families, such as increased opportunities to come into school for events such as celebration assemblies, is evident to see.”

Musical memory

A FORMER pupil of Fairfield Grammar School is asking Voice readers to help rediscover a Christmas carol from her youth.

Lynda Bradbury, as was, who is now 73 and lives in France, recalls singing As with Gladness Men of Old to a special arrangement by her then music teacher, possibly Mrs de Vere.

Lynda’s husband tells us she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 20 years ago and is now in a wheelchair, but these musical memories remain vivid and cherished.

Does anyone remember this arrangement or Mrs de Vere?
