A ceilidh at the Elmgrove Centre in Redland next month will raise funds for the Borderlands charity.
The event on Saturday February 7 will be hosted by Ceilidh Tree with stomping fiddles and a caller to show the moves plus acclaimed jazz-folk singer Gwyneth Herbert. There will be a bar with brews from Bristol Beer Factory plus hot food from FED. Earlybird tickets (£12/£15) now on sale.
The fundraiser will support Borderlands’ outreach work in the asylum hotels in Bristol, including the partnership with Folkstars which enables vulnerable children to participate in free weekly music lessons with instruments to borrow.
Borderlands was set up in 2011 to bring people from social exclusion to inclusion and belonging. Folkstars, established in 2024, widens access to music and works with 400 children each week in Bristol schools. Together, the two organisations hope to continue giving the children of asylum seeking families the opportunity to learn an instrument and enjoy all the benefits that playing music offers.
