STUDENTS from Montpelier High School emerged victorious from an academic programme run by the University of Reading.
Year 10 students from four schools participated in the Reading Scholars Project introducing them to university-style learning, independent research and critical thinking. The programme included campus visits, academic skills workshops, mentoring opportunities and subject-specific lectures, all aimed at broadening aspirations and building confidence.
As part of the programme, the MHS students produced academic research posters on topics of their choosing. These posters were presented and judged at the graduation event alongside work from more than 80 students. The results were outstanding, with MHS securing the first, second and third prizes – an achievement that reflects their commitment, curiosity and academic ambition.
Headteacher Vanetta Spence said “This remarkable success is a testament to the hard work, resilience and intellectual curiosity of our Year 10 students. Achievements like this show what young people can accomplish when they are challenged, supported and encouraged to aim high. We are immensely proud of them.”
